Reflective Connections:
This evidence comprises a project assignment completed during my physical education (P.E.) internship at Eastern Washington University. The assignment involves a comprehensive analysis and reflection on two scholarly articles about technology in P.E., along with a podcast that discusses the integration of technology in P.E. In the current era of increasing technological prevalence, educators must discover innovative methods of captivating students in the classroom by incorporating technology into lesson and units. The initial article discusses leveraging technology to elevate the quality of teaching and learning in P.E. classes. It focuses on ways in which technology, particularly video analysis applications, can assist teachers in both instructional delivery and assessment processes. The second article stands out as it systematically explores how a P.E. teacher can integrate technology standards alongside P.E. standards to enhance both the teaching and learning experiences. The podcast categorizes various technology types and thoroughly breaks down each activity or technique that educators can incorporate into their classes. This evidence attests to the mastery of the competency by showcasing the educator’s reflection on diverse technology strategies and tools applicable to P.E., aligning smoothly with the associated outcome.
The educator provides many ideas and suggestions for diversifying the integration of technology in their classes, aiming to enhance both instructional and student learning and engagement. Additionally, the educator offers concise descriptions of the articles and podcasts, highlighting key concepts. The educator provides personal reflections on how to incorporate technology to captivate and engage students in today’s ever-evolving digital world. Furthermore, the educator understands how a P.E. standard and an International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standard can be achieved together to improve the skills and qualities students need to be successful in the digital age. Tying the ISTE standards together in P.E. provides students with the opportunity to become empowered learners, digital citizens, knowledge constructors, innovative designers, computational thinkers, creative communicators, and global collaborators. This evidence shows mastery of the competency by showcasing the educator’s acknowledgment of the beneficial impact of integrating technology in the classroom to enhance both student learning and engagement. Lastly, it emphasizes that technology provides a diverse set of teaching and learning techniques, enabling the teacher to effectively deliver material to a broader student population while addressing their varied needs.
